请教大家OG两道语法题

1. As its sales of computer products have surpassed those of measuring instruments, the company has become increasingly willing to compete for the mass market sales it would in the past have conceded to rivals.

这红字部分作什么成分啊？？

2. According to some analysts, the gains in the stock market reflect growing confidence that the economy will avoid the recession that many had feared earlier in the year and instead come in for a "soft landing".

红字部分是划线的，其中的过去完成时“had feared"是什么道理？

1：定语从句，修饰mass market sales
2: Confidence 之后所有的内容是解释confidence的从句，the economy will avoid the recession (定语从句修饰recession)and insead come....
