I vote for A. Here, the Product refers to any merchandise like cigarettes. In the above CR question, the conclusion is: Banning cigarette advertisements in the mass media will not reduce the number of young people who smoke. the premise is: They know that cigarettes exist and they know how to get them. They do not need the advertisements to supply that information. When we get a Weaken-type Question, we have to: 1. find other stimulus, 2 prove the premise's failure in resulting in the conclusion, 3. prove the conclusion's failure in resulting from the premise, 4. or prove that the materials that express the causual relationship are false. In this CR, the author means that the function of the advertisment is to and only to provide information on accessing to the existing cigarettes, however, Key A provides another function of the advertisment: increase people’s desire for that product. In other words, Key A means that if the people do not get in touch with the said advertisement, they could smoke less even they know that cigarettes exist and they know how to get them. Therefore, A weakens the conclusion. For Key C, it has nothing to do with the proportion of advertisements in the mass media in the expenditures of the tobacco companies. |
