A significant reduction in caloric intake, if accompanied by vitamin supplements,will double the life span of laboratory mice,Mice fed 40% of the standard food allowance had twice the life expectancy of mice in a group that was fed the standard allowance.
If the information above is accurate,each of the following statements,if true,would help explain why the laboratory mice on the reducec allowance live twice as long as the mice fed on the standard allowance EXCEPT:
a) The lack of food reduces a mouse's metabolic rate,thereby limiting wear and tear on the mouse's body.
b) A lower-calorie diet delays the aging of the immune system and thus protects the mouse from some diseases that usually cause death
c) A drastic reduction in caloric intake signals the hormonal system to delay the aging process
d) Mice that are fed less than the standard allowance have cells that have life spans that are longer than average.
e) The vitamin supplements that accompanied the reduced calorie diet did not contribute calories to that diet

i think it is A;

I hope u can give ur answer as u said ,since i havent seen ur answer for the questions u asked before

my reasons:

1. limiting wear and tear doesnt  say anything to the life
234 is easy to made to support longer life
5 as the arument first sentence say ,reduction in calories will double span but will accompany with Viatmin intake.here we less a assumption:that is the answer e, which said intake other viatmin dont add calories ,or else calories dont reduce.

the answer is E as what you chose
but i chose D as the right answer cos i read the sentence and think the group of mice fed with standard food is selected intentionally by the researches.They selected the mice in good quality in life span to compose a specific group.

you mean answer is E?
in fact as i analysis ,i choose A,
i looked at A again ,and found reduce metabolic rate,which mean will slow aging speed if answer is E.
E give one gap to the first sentence ,why E is wrong.i  am confused with the argument now.

argument want us to explain why these mice can have  twice life.so if answer choose can explain their life is longer ,that is ok.

here ask about except, then u only need to choose one dont say longer life.

这道题我想了很久,也没有明白。我觉得ABCDE都能解释题目里的现象,所以一个也不能选。
既然答案是E ,有可能是因为E没有直接点明为什么维生素不转化为能量就会延长寿命。ABC解释了这一原因,减少能量能够减少新陈代谢,减少免疫系统和激素系统的衰老,从而延长寿命。如果把E和ABC的任一选项结合起来,E是对的。但如果就是E单独这一句话,就不对。
D选项当然不能选,这是GMAT考试惯用手法了,是不是。

选E,
解释是:E是本题结论成立的前提的重述,因此它不能被用来解释老鼠饮食的改变所导致的寿命的延长。
现在我还是不明白啊
而且我是选D的,认为 减少了食物摄入的那组老鼠寿命就是长.研究人员故意地把寿命长的老鼠分到一组。因为确实选不下正确答案

为什么有人说:D选项当然不能选,这是GMAT考试惯用手法了,是不是。这个GMAT考试惯用手法是什么

我也选了d。。。。为什么d不可以? d里的他因虽然也是导致老鼠活更长的原因之一,可是和题目里给的信息没关系阿
