lsat-1-1-12 confusing me~

12. If Country X does not intervene militarily in Country Y, then the whole region will definitely fall under enemy influence.

It most logically follows from the statement above that, if Country X does intervene militarily in Country Y, then the whole region.

(A) Will definitely fall under enemy influence

(B) Will probably fall under enemy influence

(C) Will probably not fall under enemy influence

(D) Will definitely not fall under enemy influence

(E) May or may not fall under enemy influence

the correct answer is E, however,I picked C.

Since it emphasizes on "if not intervene in country Y, then it definitely will fall," then if does intervene, is to avoid the fall, so, I think the "probably not fall" has more weight on express the "not" probability.

Choice E is also under consideration. It seems too general to me. Actually, "probably not" holds the idea of "may or may not".

I am totally lost!!/   need helpppp~~~~/ tks

I explained this one before. People who are new here should read posts from others and might learn a lot.

Probably is stronger than possible or likely. If something is probably, there should be around 80% chance that it will happen. So C is not supported by the reasoning. Basically, we have no idea on the likelihood of falling under or not falling under. Either is possible but we do not know which is more likely.
