同学，这道题很明显是E。分析：政府pension提高20%，inflation影响极少，所有符合要求的老人确保得到。但是大多数no better off financially than they were before the increase。为什么? D 答案 The pension was increased when the number of elderly Runagians below the poverty level reached an all-time high。pension原文已经说了提高了20%，这是百分之百的事实。但是D答案解释在哪种情况下提高，无关！！

我的理解是，因为人口增多了很多，所以分到每个人的就少啊

每个符合要求的老人都得到了。并不会因为人多而收到的少

为什么明显选E啊求解
children都是从elderly那里获得补贴，但是这些钱仅仅只能提供给他们刚好合适的生活，并不能说明孩子一定会找他们elderly parents要钱啊

children后面不是有个副词么...typically...就说明一般情况下children都是从elderly parents那里supplement

E的意思你好像理解错了，说的应该是孩子们给他们的上年纪的父母经济支援，但是只到让他们能过上比较舒适生活的程度...所以这些老人还是得到了政府的补偿但是孩子给的就少了呗

我觉得这题目算是一个paradox，pension上涨，间歇的性的inflation可忽略，分配合理，导致结果却是生活质量没有改善。
a:完全依赖政府补助，无关选项。
b：略有影响，但是准确来说还是无关选项，因为拿到钱的快慢不决定生活质量的好坏
c：正确，因为他们买的那些商品在通货膨胀期间价格上涨特别快，改变了题目中的一个参数，既通货膨胀是有影响的，直接解释了paradox。
d：无关选项，不管贫困老年人是否达到新高，与题干中的结论无关。
e：children's supplement，新的元素，但是对解释paradox没有作用

c是错的，文章里面说的通货膨胀的影响可以忽略不计……e的话以前是小孩给老人钱，如果老人能拿到的钱多了，那么小孩子也就没必要再补贴给老人了，所以老人拿到的钱其实还是没变
