179. The number of defects in the first five cars to come through a new production line are 9, 7, 10, 4, and 6, respectively. If the sixth car through the production line has either 3, 7, or 12 defects, for which of these values does the mean number of defects per car for the first six cars equal the median?
I. 3
II. 7
III. 12
正确答案：I and III only
我的答案：I, II, and III
把3和12带入都没问题。当把7带入时，六辆车的缺陷数，从低到高排列，是4, 6, 7, 7, 9, 10。
因为7出现了两次，其他数字只出现一次，所以7是众数；而因为总车数是偶数，所以中位数是（7+7）/2＝7。
这么算来，7应该也符合题意啊。

187. When the integer n is divided by 17, the quotient is x and the remainder is 5. When n is divided by 23, the quotient is y and the remainder is 14. Which of the following is true?
正确答案：17x-23y=9

从已知数据可得
n/17=x+5 → n=17x+85
n/23=y+14 → n=23y+322
可供选择的选项中，的确只有一项有（17x-23y）的成分——那就是正确答案。
问题是，按照已知数据，17x-23y的结果是237，而非9啊

第179题，把7带入，按顺序排列则是4，6，7，7，9，10，则中位数是7；而这六个数的平均数43／7≠7，所以不能选。
第187题，题目说整数n被17整除后商数是x余数为5，可得n=17x+5,同理n=23y+14.余数不需和商数相乘。
