statment above, if true, best support which of following?

a. fewer than half the students of the class of 1964 declared as freshman that they entered college in order to increase their earning potential

b. educational background did not play as significient a part in determing income in 1964 as it does in 1982

if above is true a proper test ou country's ability to be competivite is its ability to:

a. balance its trade while its standard of living rises.
b. balance its trade while its standard of living falls.

我的推理过程：trade deficits lead to standard of living rises and standard of living decreased due to trade balance. 所以推出B

A is said in the above by a deep-seated difference, so A is the best.
about B, b tells us that education plays more important role in 1982 than in 1960 to deter the income.But you can not infer this from the situation,since the situation only talks about the motivation of the 1982 students to go to college is to make good income.As to whether they can have good income,situation doesnt say.maybe all 1982 students think if they can go to college ,they can make more money.but when they graduate,they might found things dont like that they thought of before.So you can not see education background has business here.
2.我觉得这个题目有点专业了，需要傻一点选择，肯定选A，因为国家有竞争力一定是要让人民生活水平提高的啊，所以不会falls.如果真的是知道贸易顺差，逆差，平衡以及他们与经济发展的关系，再来做这道题，我觉得题目就出的太狠了。
