Here is my reasoning.
To oppose:
Government ought to provide services to its citizens, health care is just one of many services. Health care is fundamental because the development of a country is determined by the overall development of individuals and a well-being person needs good health.
However, if health care is provided by the government, then its funding must be collected through taxation. While it is hard to implement a system in which if you pay more tax, then you receive more services, how can a government be fair to everybody?
Health care can be expensive, it will become a burden to the government. Here is the question in order to keep it feasible. How much is needed for each citizen? In addition, such a system is similar to health insurance. If you do not use your benefit, you lose. But in this case, the government is paying for you. People may abuse the health care system in order to maximize their benefits. While the resource (health professionals and clinical facilities) is limited, the high quality service may not reached the hands of someone who needs it. Eventually, the government can take control of the system in some sort (centralizing hospitals, setting service limits, etc), but it is better to let the market to adjust the supply and demand. In a free market, health providers can fight for a cheaper price for the consumers, on the other hand, consumers who has urgent needs can deserve services of better quality.

In the US, government encourages employers to cover the health benefits for their workers. Elderly people are covered by social security (which wages are deducted while at work by the government to pay for future medical and retirement usage.) Most low income families are covered by medical assistance provided by the government. However, the government have not done enough to strive for the citizens on health care. In order to develop a better society, it is necessary to advance the current system to its full extent.
Currently through out the states, only large corporations have the expertise to handle health benefits for workers. Without the administration of the government, some medium and most small businesses will have difficulty to assist the employees on health problems. Social security is not reliable, because it is hard to adjust for the inflation. The money you save today, is not guaranteed to cover the expense in the future. It is the dilemma that most elderly people are facing today. The money saved is not enough to cover in today's living standard. At the end, they have to seek help from the government. Since the country is already a welfare state, reflected on the low income health care assistantship and progressive taxation, the government should provide a better health care system.
