15. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Technology designed to make our life simpler actually makes our life more complicated.
In present-day society, more and more technological innovations have come up to make our daily lives more convenient and easier. Some people claim that the designs which have the good intention turn out to complicate it (make it more complicated in fact). But In my view, once you are adapted to the modern life style, it becomes really simple.
Firstly, considering the applications invented to satisfy our basic needs in everyday life, the GPS just comes across my mind, which makes it possible for people to go almost anywhere. When you set your destination in a foreign country, not only your route to airport is presented, but also the airplane timetable and the traffic information in another country! It is especially helpful when you need to plan your work or trip overseas. Even in the same city you live in, when it becomes a bigger place with the fast development pace, you can not rely on your limited memory and need the help of GPS to go to another zone which you are not familiar with. Everyone's daily living area is small, but the GPS and online map makes your lives unlimited.
Additionally, there are also many more recreation implements to make our life more interesting. The widespread usage of electronic books has begun to change people's habit. Before it is applied, when you want to read certain books from another country, you need to go to buy it from book store, or find it out in the library. It becomes even more difficult when it is not common and related to special field. What do we gonna do nowadays? Just search, download, and read! Although you have to pay for it sometimes, it really saves our time from the meaningless and time-consuming tasks, and let our lives become easier and highly efficient.
Although some people claim that GPS may suggest wrong routes which don't make sense, and the online searching may be distracted by various information presented at the same time. But I think the possibility and convenience they provide obviously overweigh their deficiency. You can confirm your route by using different online map softwares, neglect the useless distractions on the website and learn how to search for the useful material with high efficiency. Once you are adept in using the modern techniques, which is created to meet your daily needs, your life will becomes easier with no doubt.
In conclusion, I think the technology applied to make our life simpler, although they can be further improved in the future, does elevate our living quality and makes it more convenient. |
