If you really want to go shopping, you can rent a car and put your luggage in your car. Driving from LAX to Hollywood is about half hour (if traffic is not bad). However, I really don't recommend you to do so if you are not familiar with driving in US. LA's highway system is really confusing.

Hehe perhaps I was lucky. I arrived LA at around 10:30 AM on Monday and It took me a little bit more than half hour to get to my hotel which is about 15-20 mins walk to Kodak Theater.
