To Chicago GSB new admits

Big cong to the new admits. I believe you will enjoy the two-year joyful time back to school.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any question about GSB and your preparation for the B-school.

Thank you very much for your kindness

Could you pls shed some lights on how easy is it to be exchanged to some European schools, say, LBS, in our 2nd year? How pratical is it to do so? Is there any down-side of doing the exchange, say, missing out certain opportunities only available on campus?

Hi, thanks for initiating this.  Wondering is it safe to live in the Hyde Park area?  Is it recommended to live there for the first year?  Thanks.

It looks like i am still alive, haha. So far as I know, all the Chinese students are still intact.

And I will recommend first year student to stay there (regent park, though a little bit expensive), over 80% of first year chinese students stay here.

hehe, looks like regents park is a pretty good choice, given that many first years live there.  One of the admitted students is taking the lead to negotiate a group price for everyone.  Hopefully that can save a bit.  :-)

To GSB Class of 2010 Admits, is there an email group already set up?  If not we can set up one just for better communications purpose...

Hi nlhsz,  thanks a lot for being this helpful. I'm wondering if most chicago students drive or you guys just take buses and subways?  is it convenient to take public transportation to go into the city if i will have summer intern there?  thanks.

Hi Sarahtan15!  Congrats on your admit!  I am a fellow admit as well but I think I might be able to help answer this question based on what I have learned.  So please correct me if I am wrong...

If you live in Hyde Park, you probably don't need a car because there are both city buses and UChicago buses in the area.  You can also call a free van service if you stay late in Harper center, I think.  If you live in downtown, you can take Metra to get to Hyde Park, then walk for 10-15 minutes to school.  However, if you choose to live in Lincoln park and lake view areas, then you might need a car because those areas are further north in Chicago.
