以下是引用miatu在2008-3-20 21:09:00的发言: What if I am with OPT(F1), do I need to go back to renew(change) my visa once I get a admission ? Thanks....
two cases: 1. You had used the two-month grace period before applying for OPT, then if your OPT is gonna expire before the starting date of study in your new I-20, you need to either go back to China or other countries, such as Canada, Mexico, etc., to reapply for the F1 visa. 2. You did not use the two-month grace period before applying for OPT, then if your OPT is gonna expire 60 calendar days ahead of the starting date of study in your new I-20, you need to either go back to China or other countries, such as Canada, Mexico, etc., to reapply for the F1 visa. BTW, in either case, if you were under pressure to renew your visa, you may request the institute you are gonna pursue studies at to set up an earlier date of study. Such a request will not hold legal standing unless the authorities of the department holding the program you are gonna go for propose a written request explaining why an earlier registration date is necessary to the Office of International Students. |
