Last night, I came back from my three days trip to the East Coast. I have to say I LOVE LA weather!!! Freezing cold in the east! Luckily, I had my two interviews done during the same trip (2/27 with Stern, 2/28 with Wharton). Now, it’s the time for me to give back to CD and share some of my interview experiences. I arrived at NYC the night before Stern interview and stayed at the Time Square. This is my forth time in NYC, and I am still amazed by the city’s fast-pace and energetic spirit. The city is on-going 24/7!!! However, I am little disappointed by its cold weather (now I truly sound like a California girl L ) My Stern interview is scheduled at 3 pm. At noon, I had a lunch with a current second year student, a consulting GG, at a small restaurant two blocks away from the school. I chic chat with him for about an hour. After lunch, I stayed at the Starbucks across the street to go over my profile one more time and had a cup of coffee to wake myself up. The interview is exact 30 minutes long and went very well. My interviewer is a young lady, associate director. She is very friendly and definitely knows my profile very well. After I sit down, she first thanks me for coming over on campus for the interview. She said the school really appreciates the students who make the effort to come over and truly wants to know the applicants in person. Then, without asking me to talk about myself, she summarized my background, career goal, and working experiences for me! Very impressive! Because she only has my resume on her desk (no notes, no my profile)!!! Also, make me noticed is that most of her questions are career focused. It looks like Stern really wants to make sure that their students can get a job after all… Following are the questions I remembered: · What make you succeed so far? · What’s your biggest accomplishment at your current work place? · What’s your biggest challenging you faced at work place? · Why MBA? · Why Stern? · What the misconceptions that people may have about your work? · What’s your plan/strategy to land a job after your graduation at Stern? · Are there any companies that you are interested to work with after MBA? What's your plan to pursue those positions? · What are the weaknesses that you think your future employer will see in you? · If you have a free day, how do you want to spend it? (the same question I was asked at Duke interview) Tips: Know your profile! Know your career plan! Be confident!
