I submitted application in round 1, but I have not got any information up to now. after sending them several letters, I got a reply last night. Does it mean that I am hopeless in round 1? I know that some applicants have got offers.

Please excuse the late reply; our office was understaffed during the winter break. Unfortunately, we cannot give out information regarding the status of your application and interviews. Please keep in mind that this is the first year we are requesting interviews, thus it will probably take us longer to finish the entire process. Periodically check your email to see if we have sent out an interview request. Feel free to contact our office with any further questions.

Seems that they need longer time to process it. So be patient. Hope you will receive interview notice soon!

don't get them paranoid or they'll just reject you (yes,that can happen b/c the entire process is very subjective)
