i think that "demonstrates" should be changed into "demonstrate"

because of "in most cases of .."

the subject is  "activity", thus, "demonstrates" is correct.

of course, "a characteristically abnormal rhythms"  is wrong, wrong, wrong.   we need to say:  "a.....rhythm"
