But focus on your insights into the experiecne and how you would think,feel,say and do differently the second time.

I feel a little bit different, from my understanding , the reason why you did not fully demostrated you potential was because of other people, or "outside" factors. Try to avoid blaming...My view is this is an essay to describe a case you made a mistake yourself or something like that. What they want to see is your cabability to know the weakness of yourself and how to learn from inperfection or failure.

The admin don't have an interest on something that you don't have the power to influence, what they are interested in is how you are going to improve YOURSELF from good to great :-) hope will be helpful

多些各位的热心指点。

我只是有些越来越糊涂了。

这篇ESSAY的题目，应该是着重于－我做一件事情，因为什么原因没有做好,吸取了什么教训,如果碰到类似情况,应该怎么去做.

在这个例子里,我是项目经理.我的例子,没有做好的主要原因不是我-是公司的组织结构复杂,领导没有足够重视.当然我也有很重要的原因,因为没有估计到可能的严重后果,所以没有采取更好的措施.
如果时光倒流,我一定会想各种办法杜绝类似后果的再次发生,办法有:和领导更好的沟通,还有必要的预防措施.

我原来担心的是文化差异,老外会不理解中国人说的复杂的组织关系(虽然我服务的是一家著名外企),所以会不能理解,以至于产生副作用和不好的效果.
可是看了楼上的讨论,仿佛这个例子不是很合适?因为这个例子主要不是表达我did not live up to full potential,而是因为外因.

项目险些失败的还有一个原因是竞争对手从一些途径知道我们技术上的软肋,虽然他们的技术软肋更多而且我们的项目很成功,但是对手抢先在客户上层那里告了一状,导致我们不利.
我不知道老外是不是能理解这么复杂的东西...

呵呵我觉得最好还是不要拿组织层面的东西来给老外讲。每个人的工作都有自己力所不及的范围。。。比如系统。每个人都会遇到的问题，除非你对systerm改良有非常的见解...个人认为，最好换一个例子吧。我曾经作过招聘，可能不会太喜欢说candidate说别人或者公司环境如何如何，导致我不能怎样怎样...

如果一定要用这个例子的话，可以从这个角度说。。。你没有做好是因为没有清醒的认识到系统的复杂，所以学到了今后在工作之前要先认清各个组织之间的关系，做好backup云云
