1st Test -- September Score Q50V2*-6**
I studied QianYongQiang-Math, BaiYong - Grammar, OG-RC and CR, GWD-RC and CR, and September JJ of course. I felt I was prepared to take the test and score at least 700 which I need for a PhD program.
AWA: I did not confirm the AA writing when time was out. I do not think there is any problem since my AWA score was good.
Verbal Section: I still had 5 questions unanswered when I ran out of the time. My last RC was an 85-90 lines article about Ice Age, it took my over 18 minutes, and I was unable to concentrate to answer the last 8 questions. Even though I still thought I could score at least 30, it was only 2*. I was very disappointed and frustrated.
In early October, I cleaned up my mind and decided to take another test. I knew I should score at least 700 because I worked hard for the preparation. But I made a strategic mistake that I did not manage time well at the beginning (you won’t believe that I read the 2nd and 3rd RC line by line (the first one was a GWD RC)), that I did not give up the last RC which only has 4 questions, and that I could not have the mood and time to answer the last 8 questions right.
2nd Test -- October Score Q51V38-740
Before the second test, I studied 2 weeks full time. The first week, I reviewed all the study materials I have and notes I made, and marked some areas that I need to pay more attentions. The second week, I studied Oct 2004 and 2005 JJ, and reviewed the areas that I marked.
For the Q section, JJ is the most important materials to study.
When I finished the Q section, I still had 15 minutes; I closed my eyes to rest a little bit for 14 minutes and confirmed the section at last minute. I was very energetic when I started the V section. I tried to move as fast as I could but make sure I did SC and CR correctly. The first 3 RCs were not GWD RCs but I read JJ before. I did not read them line by line, just drew the structures of the articles, and answer the questions. Because you have to be prepared for the last RC (what if it is a brand new one such as the one I had in September). Anyway, my last one was the GWD Volcanoes (thanks God!!!). So, I still had 10 minutes left when I finished the last question, no matter how slow I was to answer the rest questions. I was happy with the score though I thought I may score 760 if I could use the 10 minutes for the first 3 RCs. But, you never know.
Anyway, this is my story. Hope it gives you some information and keeps you cheering up.
