This is the only thing related to R1 applicant on MIT's "From the Desk of the Admissions Director" posted on Oct. 7th.

Looks like we still have chance before mid November!

To those of you who have submitted a Round 1 application to the MIT Sloan MBA Program, thank you. The hard part is over! If you are interested in learning more about the process once you submit your application, this blog is for you.

We have imported all the applications and we will now begin to distribute them to the Admissions Committee members. In “the older days” this process consumed large quantities of paper files. These days, we are focused on sustainability, so this process is now entirely electronic.

The Admissions Committee members are a team of professionals who meet regularly to discuss and calibrate our application evaluations. The MBA application assessment process does not involve faculty, alumni, or students. Our team is excited to begin reading; they are dedicated and prepared to carefully review each application.

The reading and review period will take 4-6 weeks. We will send out Round 1 interview invitations from mid-October through early November. If you are not invited to interview, you will be notified of your decision by mid-November.

As we get closer to sending out interview invitations, I will post a blog with more information about the interview process itself.

It seems that they are sending out interviews to students who are currently living and working in the US (haven't finished yet). So everyone still has chances.

The online info session has just finished. Below are random points that I collected:

- They have started sending out interview invites for applicants located in the US
- For international candidates, an adcom literally said "expect invites over the new few weeks". Another one said that they will start sending out invites in early November (i.e. next week) through mid-November. Actual interviews will be conducted through the end of November
- They are planning to conduct interviews in Cambridge, LA, SF, and 12 international cities. They are still in the process of finalizing the international cities. One adcom said that they will interview in Shanghai and Honk Kong in Asia, while another one said that they will interview in India. No interviews in Africa/ME
- They expect to fill half of the class size from R1 applicants
- approx. 30% of the applicants will be interviewed, and 50%-60% of those will be admitted
- The interview lasts around 45 minutes
