columnist: there are several symptoms of depression. One symptom is sleeping more than 12 hours a day. Therefore, you should buy an alarm clock so that you do not sleep more than 8 hours a day.
If the article also noted that excessive sleeping is caused by reduced serotonin levels resulting from depression, then which of the arguments below best describes the logical flaw in the columnist's reasoning?
A Sleep has may beneficial effect.
B The columnist has mistaken an argument for an explanation.
C The columnist has mistaken a premise for a conclusion.
D The columnist has mistaken a cause for a symptom.
E The columnist has mistaken an indicator for a cause.
OA: E

我的分析:flaw题目
depression---> serotonin levels ↓---->excessive sleeping (sleep more than 12 hours a day)
conclusion: you should buy an alarm clock so that you do not sleep more than 8 hours a day.

把症状当作原因了,选E没问题。
但是我看不懂的BCD解释

In my personal opinion, the explanations are wrong.
The essential elements of an argument are premises and conclusion.
We can find these two elements in the stimulus.
First of all, the author gives us some correlated phenomenal, including people with depression and  oversleep.
Second, Notice the conclusion indicator: therefore. The last sentence of the stimulus is definitely a conclusion. Therefore, the first two sentences are premises(Here, I also use "therefore" for analogy),on which the conclusion based.

B The columnist gives an argument himself. It has nothing to do with explanation.
C An author of an argument gives premise and conclusion. The only mistake made by the author in his argument is his conclusion do not naturally follow his premise. In other words,  his premises do not support his conclusion firmly. Thus, it cannot possible for the columnist mistake a premise for a conclusion. On the other hand, it is quite possible for a reader to do so.(When i practice CR, I make the mistake everyday)
D is the reverse of E, thus D is wrong.

Thx~
我做题是对c理解了很久,觉得不对劲。你这样一说我就恍然大悟了。premise和conclusion是argument句子的自带属性,作者自己是不可能mistake a premise for a conclusion的~
D的解释和alarm clock 扯上关系了,很莫名其妙。没有soulwangh解释的明白,我同意D给的官方解释有错。
