174. Every generation of people is different in important ways. How is your generation different from your parents' generation? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your answer.

As time goes by, our generation has grown up and the differences between our generation and my parents' generation have become so evident, especially in the way we live, attitude towards foreign culture and preference to use new and updated technology.

First of all, in spite of the fact that we get along with our parents every day, I still find that we are not the same as our parents in the ways of living. For example, I am fond of buying things on the Internet, especially buying the clothes. On the contrary, my parents believe that clothes should be tried many times before we can decide to buy it. Also, they think there is no need to buy new clothes if your old ones are still able to wear, as long as they look neatly and what did matter is your quality and spiritual outlook. However, our generation always likes to try new things to catch up the fashion, though it is a little money costly.

Second, in the shocks of foreign culture, our generation prefers to try the commodities or brands from foreign countries due to our curiosity and we can accept them easily and try to combine them with our own culture. But our parents may think that it is just comedic to do that since people can only be in one style. For example, Jay Chou, a famous singer from Taiwan, is seemed as the super star among our generation. We are crazy for his music, his movie and his whole person, whereas most of our parents don't like him and even are annoyed when they hear Jay's songs. That's because in Jay's music, he try to mix up Chinese style and Rap or something, which feels so strange and unreasonable to our parents.

Third, our parents usually hate to use the updated technological products while young people of our generation are always the pioneers to use technology, such as 3D movies, IMAX, artificial mobile phones, etc. Take me and my parents as an example. I'm a fan of Apple and like to use IPhone because I love the excellent sliding experience their screens give me as well as the mode in which they operate. But my parents still think that the new technology brings too much to our lives and our lives can be easier. Hence, their mobile phones are in the old style, made by Nokia many years ago, which can simply support the call and massage.

In the nut shell, our generations are greatly distinguished to our parents' generation. They hold conserved attitude to hold the traditions, though I love our culture. Our generation is more flexible and open to this world in living way, new technological products and the cultural communication between countries.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Your job has greater happiness than your social life?

When comparing job and social life, I will stand on the side of social life without a second thought. In my mind, people have to do some jobs to make a living while involving in social life is to make fun. Therefore, job seldom has happiness as social life do.

First of all, job represents some kind of rules that you have to obey, but I don't really like to be bind by so many daily routines and restrictions. (I bet nobody in this world likes) In the job environment, I have to dress suits or just serious every day in the company. And all the things I do is that repeat the same work again and again every day. Also I have the burden to finish the tasks that my boss requires. However, the social life is more easy and relaxing. I can dress me up or choose some colorful clothing when I meet people. And when I connect to different people I can use distinguished manners since each person has his/her own personnel.

What's more, jobs just bring me so much pressures and it is too tiresome to make me feel there is anything worth having fun of. For me, I have to get up very early every morning to catch the subway and then change to the shuttle bus of my company. Finally, it takes me one and a half hours every morning to get to the company. It's tiring for me to 'take a long trip' before I begin my dull but busy work. In contrast, in social life, it is totally possible to make a bargain with your friends, which cannot be mentioned in job. (No one would dare to bargain with his/her boss.) I can discuss the time and the place with my friends. Always I hang out with my friends in the afternoon or evening when my good sleep in the morning can't be disturbed.

Moreover, not like the friends you have made acquaintances so many years, the colleagues in your company are not the best choice to talk with the words in your mind when you are sorrowful or burst into crying, because the relationship between you and your colleagues is competence. You are all competing for a better pay and a higher position, which are the rare resources of the company. But in the social life, you don't need to conceal yourself and you can share things or words with your friends. This makes me feels comforting and warm from the deepest of my heart.

All in all, the joy social life gives you is an unbelievable strength and energy to support you to hold the positive attitude towards life and smile to the world. But the job brings me almost the nightmare rather than happiness due to the working pressures and tasks given by my employee, the environment and geological restrictions of my company, and the relationship with my colleagues. Hence, I am bound to get more happiness from social life than my job.
