The new school of political history that emerged in the 1960’s and 1970’s sought to go beyond the traditional focus of political historians on leaders and government institutions by examining directly the political practices of ordinary citizens. Like the old approach, however, this new approach excluded women. The very techniques these historian sused to uncover mass political behavior in the nineteenth-century United State – quantitative analyses of election returns, for example – were useless in analyzing the political activities of women, who were denied the vote until1920.
这是OG verbal 阅读里面的一段, 但是我不能理解 like the old approach, 按道理说下面不就是该讲 New apporach 和 old approach 的相似点了吗, 可是这里为什么会有一个however? 所以这句话到底是要说 new apporach like the approach... 还是要说 however, the new approach exceluded women ( which is different from the old apprach) 呢, 非常困惑啊, 期待解答! 非常感谢!
