各位学长、学姐和申请的战友：

今天看到邮箱里UIUC给我发了封邮件，说我被录取了。并让我4月15号之前选择去还是不去。本人是上海交通大学机械自动化专业的大四本科生。由于美国大学会给PhD申请者奖学金的概率非常大，于是我就填了申请PhD。不过刚递交完申请后的第一天，小米就发来邮件说：“没有硕士学位的申请者被自动转到MS with intent to Phd。”并且说这是规定，还给我一个链接说是我这个状况都得这么走。小米还说，所有的申请者（包括MS）都会考虑奖学金的。
为了准确说明情况。我把那个Graduate Admissions Committee的邮件部分的写在下面：

Dear Yang,
It is my great pleasure to inform you that the Graduate Admissions Committee has recommended you for admission to our graduate program, beginning with the Fall 2012 term, pending satisfactory completion of your current studies (if a degree is in progress). The Committee offers its congratulations to you for the excellent academic record you have attained and we are happy you are considering joining us at the University of Illinois. We believe the teaching and research programs in Mechanical Science and Engineering provide an excellent environment for you to pursue graduate study.
At this time your admission to our graduate program does not include an offer of financial assistance directly from the department; however, it is our hope that you will be able to obtain a research assistantship based on individual faculty needs. Such an appointment, if you obtain it, would include a monthly stipend, a tuition waiver, and a partial fee waiver, along with other benefits. Since research assistantships are offered by individual faculty members, you should contact individual faculty if you are interested in such opportunities. By reviewing the departmental web site at 。。。。。。。

发这个邮件的是个Associate Head for Graduate Programs，人很热情，给了我不少信息，让我去找教授套词。这个到底是什么个情况？是不是我这样的本科生都拿不到fellowship。为什么结果出来的这么早（我12月初申请完毕的）。据上届的学长的经验，我们学院有个学长也是MS拿了financial assistance去了UIUC，说也是拿到录取后套的词。不少人说，有了这个录取，再陶瓷就提供了很大筹码。邮件中还说，还能有monthly stipend, a tuition waiver, and a partial fee waiver, along with other benefits。这个情况大家能不能跟我说说呢？UIUC是我非常想去的学校，也是机械专业顶呱呱的世界名校。不过，我必须得拿到奖学金，否则根本不可行，家里经济状况很一般。如果争取到RA或者TA的话，具体能满足我的生活需要吗？我已经给相关的一个教授说明情况了，希望他能提供我RA等。
