以下是XDF练习册上的题:

1)      Under the certain conditions, rainbow appears at the end of a rain shower in the quarter of the sky opposite the Sun.

The certain怎么改，为什么？ 好像under certain conditions，因为the 指代不明！

2）During the nineteenth century the molecular theory of matter was developed, which considered all matter to be composed of tiny, indivisible entity called molecules.

All matter对吗，不加S吗 如果作整体讲的话，可以不加s,不过，在理论上拿不准，请牛牛来补充

3）petroleum,  which currently makes up about four-tenths of the world’s energy production, supplies more commercial energy than any another source.

我认为最后两项都改，source不应是复数吗 其实只改C即可，any other source是可以的

4) Someone may refuse to recognize the seriousness of an emotionally threatening situation and perceive as less threatening.

这句就完全不知了，也不明白说什么。由and 可看出前后两个句子是平衡的，但后一个句子缺宾语，最好改为perceive it as ....我来试着翻译：某些人会不承认感情威胁的严肃性而（误）将其理解为（无所谓），意译，不太准确。

5）cheese may be hard or soft, depending on the amount of water left into it and the character of the cutting.

Into应改为to吗，为什么  into具有明显的动作意味，这里改为in会更好

6）due to persistent inbreeding, self- pollinating plants have genetically more uniform than cross-pollinated plants, which harbor more genetic variability.

Variability不应为复数吗。问题在于have more uniform此处的uniform是形容词，应改为are more unifrom

有all，且matter是可数名词，用复数较合适。

不过，我还是觉得此题应改entity >> entities, matter在此作广义上的“物质”讲比较合适。

我认为最后两项都改，source不应是复数吗

托福常考错误，习语 any other，请对其识记且敏感；source的单复数考试时比较难判断，首先应看句子是否可能出现其他错误。
