Yes my friend, your approach sounds just fine here. Just remember to FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. So, when they ask you to “introduce yourself to your classmates” for example, you should do exactly that. Don’t launch into a story about your past—INTRODUCE yourself. You don’t need to start with “Hi my name is Dong” etc., but you SHOULD be sure to talk about yourself just as you would in a conversation with someone you were meeting for the first time. “I was born in YYYY,” or even something more playful like “I bet you didn’t expect that someone with this big a smile would be from the smallest town in southwest China” etc. Introduce yourself dude, don’t just “Write an essay…
