77. Do you agree or disagree with thefollowing statement? Boys and girls should attend separate schools. Use reasonsand specific examples to support your answer.
Should boys and girls and boys attendseparate schools? When confronted with this question, the answer is reallyarguable. Some people strongly supporting this viewpoint, while others,nevertheless, put out a contrary opinion, because those many negative effectsbrought by the sex separation when the students attend school. But to befrankly, I prefer the contrary rather than the standpoint hold by the question,because I strongly believe that boys and girls attend school together is a goodway, if not the best, for them to communicate and better learn from each other.Among the numerous reasons which affect my point of view, here follows threereasons which I think most contribute to this question.
In the first place, there is no denyingthat boys and girls both have their distinction characters, and they may havedifferent studying habits, methods, capacities when learning some specificdisciplines. Keeping them attending school separately seems that it will dogood to provide with them a better platform in absorbing knowledge in somedegree. For instance, most boys have better talents in math than girls, as aresult they are easier to understand and absorb the math methods. While girlsmay be particularly good at learning knowledge related to linguistics, theyseem to get a better score when paying the same attention to linguistic study withboys. To keep them learn some specific subject separately appears to have apositive effect on improving the teaching efficiency of schools.
What's more, however, keep boys and girlsattending separate school also have plenty of disadvantages which will surelyoverweight the advantages mentioned above. The most negative one I want topoint out is that this sex separation may lead to an unhealthy influence on themental development of students both boys and girls. They will lack of theopportunities to communicate with the opposite sex and fails to take the chanceto learn some specific virtues from each other. Case that the boys onlycontacts with boys in a long period of time, even the whole school years, as aresult they do not know how to get along with girls, which will surely do harmto the development of an integral mental world. Also some surveys indicate thatschools have only boys or girls have more percentage of the occurring of homosexual.In order to avoid these students personal growing problem, boys and girlsattending mix schools seems necessity.
In addition, to pursue a more variety andcolorful memory of student life, it is better for girls and boys to attend amix school. I still remember the days girls cheered for basketball games, weboys and girls played together. How beautiful smile on our face, it was apicture never faded in my mind. I learned braveness and persistence from boysof our class, also they become more carefulness and gentleness. All this goodmemories and growth are great fortune in one's life. Thus, it is meaningful forgirls and boys attending a mix school.
After combining all the reasons mentionedabove, we could come to the final conclusion that students should better notattend separate schools, even some advantages of separate school may mentionedabove, such as, improving teaching efficiency. However, the disadvantages areso obviously that overweight its contrary, for a better integral mental developmentand more colorful student life, students should better attend a mix school. |
