A．Instead of collaborating, one of the most famous rivalries began when A’s reconstruction of xxx was challenged by B, and A’s reconstruction of xx proved to be mistaken.
B．Instead of cooperating, one of the most famous rivalries began when A’s reconstruction of xxx was challenged by B,
C. Instead of cooperating, A and B involved in one of the most famous rivalries when A challenged B’s reconstruction of xxx,
是不是选C呢？狗主没给答案，我比较强迫症啊，想确认下啊！大家帮帮忙，下面是原帖

一开始觉得B...都是sth do(past tense) and sth. do...不过后来看到楼上的....觉得有道理...因为instead of cooperating...所以感觉主语应该是A和B...逻辑上就是A和B开始一场对战instead of合作...暂时支持C

最烦看语法和逻辑的狗狗了，本来选B,因为感觉C没动词，后来看了别人的说法就怎么都觉得C对。哎！！！这就是为什么不要看JJ的原因了。

很少见instead of短语，建议大家搜搜说说对这个词组的理解，群策群力下次见到这个词组可以平静些
