What is the remainder when the positive integer x is divided by 8?

(1)When x is divided by 12, the remainder is 5.

(2)When x is divided by 18, the remainder is 11.
已查過前人帖新問題
條件1.我設x=12a+b
條件 2 .x=18b+11
再令12a+b=18b+11
看了很多帖子都是將兩式相等求餘數
請問: 為什麼一定要將兩式相等去求餘數呢
