看着不错,我打算从了~~~另外我主要是问dean msa 读完了能不能mba in finance的,不过他的回答有点模棱两可,求解释。
The UT Dallas School of Management started this program because today's graduate students often need deep knowledge in a particular functional skill area, as well as a broad knowledge of all areas of management to succeed in business. The program allows students to earn a combination of a master's level specialist degree and a Masters in Business Administration together. After 36 credit hours, graduates of this program earn an M.S. degree in their chosen specialty. They can then decide whether or not to complete an MBA by studying for only an additional 27 credit hours. Both degrees separately would require 36 + 53 credit hours, or 89 total, but in the joint program students earn both degrees with a smaller total of 63 semester credit hours.
? The Combined MS-MBA program is a new program we began this year, 2011. ? Students can easily switch to the joint program after they arrive on campus by filling out a one-page “Change of Major Form.” ? You may use an I-20 issued for your original MS program to obtain your visa. Also, if you want to update your I-20 with the award information, the ISSO will do that for you. ? Many students believe they should have work experience before studying for an MBA, however, we do not require any work experience for our Professional MBA. ? Students in the program, who pursue an MBA after completion of their first degree, are required to add only 27 credit hours (equal to 51% of the MBA requirement) to the 36 MS credit hour requirement to receive both degrees. The total program is 63 credit hours. ? Taking 9 credit hours per semester, the combined MS-MBA program of 63 credit hours can take as little as seven semesters or two and a half years to complete, as we have three semesters per year in our academic calendar. ? There is no maximum limit on the number of credit hours that graduate students are allowed to earn each semester, however, a realistic upper limit based on normal workloads and time demands is 12 credit hours. A normal full time load is 9 credit hours. F-1 students must take 9 credit hours per semester to satisfy visa requirements. ? To earn both degrees students must satisfy all the core requirements for both degrees. The MBA core is 29 total credit hours. ? Tuition fees are based on residency status and the number of credit hours you take per semester. The tuition per semester for the Joint MS-MBA is the same as tuition for the Master of Science program alone, unless you choose to take more credit hours per semester. ? If you have Texas-resident status, the tuition and fees for the whole program at 63 total hours taking 9 credit hours per semester for 7 semesters is approximately $36,000. The total program cost for 7 semesters without resident status is approximately $54,000. ? If you decide to join the MS-MBA program and receive a scholarship, it includes both a one-time cash award of $1,000 in the Fall, 2011 semester, and Texas-resident tuition status for the 2011~2012 academic year. ? Students receiving a scholarship and thus resident status for their first year of study but not their second year, save $10,000 in total tuition costs, and would pay approximately $44,000 for the whole program. ? Students can apply for a scholarship and receive the Dean’s Excellence $1,000 award only once each academic year. They must reapply in their second year and receive the scholarship again in order to maintain their Texas-resident status. ? You can still apply for a scholarship if you do not decide to enroll in the combined MS-MBA program. However, because we wish to encourage our best students to enroll in the MS-MBA program, more scholarship money is available to those students. ? The MBA for this program is the Professional MBA. As with the MS degrees, classes for the PMBA are offered both during the day and at night and students can pursue their degrees on either a part-time or full-time basis. ? This program will give you two degrees and two diplomas, one for your Master of Science degree, and one for the MBA. ? Students are advised to concentrate first on their MS degree, and then continue to pursue the additional courses necessary for an MBA degree. ? You have the right to decide whether you want to keep pursuing the MBA after you finish your MS degree. You are not required to earn an MBA degree after completing the MS degree. ? Do not confuse the Join MS-MBA program with the Combined Electrical Engineering and Management program in the catalog. The new MS-MBA program is different, combining any of our existing School of Management Master of Science degrees with our MBA. ? Some students plan to apply for a PhD program in their chosen Master of Science academic area after they complete the MS. Joining the MS-MBA program would delay that only if you take the time to get both degrees. ? The combined degree program is not necessarily better preparation to be accepted to a PhD Program. PhD programs, including ours, look for very prepared students, who have GMAT scores in excess of 700, strong quantitative backgrounds, excellent academic recommendation letters, and the ability to excel at doing independent research. All of these count as much or more than a strong preparation in a functional business area. |
