Hello friends,

Welcome to Notre Dame thread!

We are first year students of Class 2016 in University of Notre Dame - Mendoza College of Business.

Recently we received many inquiries about Notre Dame, therefore, we are opening this thread to answer any of your question or concern about the MBA program of Notre Dame, and to share our experiences with those who are interested in our program.

A brief introduction to Notre Dame:
Our business school rank the 23rd according to the latest rankings released by US News. The comprehensive ranking of Notre Dame is 16th in the States (US News) while our undergraduate business programs rank 11th.
This year our program recruited 130 students, including 30% international students and 30% female.  Tens of local students got their undergraduate degree in this campus.  We call them double domers.

Our class is highly diversified. We have Guinness Record breaker, Martial arts Champion, Producer for Olympic Games, Soccer player, baseball player, dozens of veterans, etc. It is pretty cool to have class with those people who have done so many badass things, right?

Let us share with you some other breath-taking facts about our school life!

1) The whole university is crazy about its FOOTBALL!  As a member of Notre Dame Community, this is the only thing that you should never miss during your school life! And the seasonal ticket would only cost you 250 dollars, the cheapest football tickets you could ever get! LOL  For fall season, almost every Saturday would become a special holiday! Be prepared for that, since it is really inspiring to hear everybody around you cheering "Go Irish!!!"  We have "Touch Down Jesus" library and "First Down Moses".  The helmets of our football players are paint with real GOLD.

2) We have a great Career Development Coach team.  They are very experienced and skillful to help you with your resume, pitches and interview skills. Even though we've just started our program for two weeks, they provided many practical information to strengthen our competitiveness and position ourselves in the US job market.  The biggest challenge for international students is our working VISA sponsorship, but the chance is that Notre Dame has a great reputation in the States and every year we have many on campus intern/job opportunities.

3) Also, we highly value the social responsibility in our candidates.  Probably 90% of domers are givers. We help each other during study life, so that you will be able to build comarade friendship after two years with your classmates.  Even when you reach out to the alum for informational interview, the responsive rate is pretty high. Once you are in, you will always be a member of the big family!  Our program also provides many volunteer activities do to help with the South Bend community!

4) Another important fact, of course, is her beautiful campus! You might have concern about her location, but after several weeks, you would definitely be in love with this campus.  Especially during the fall season, the campus will be decorated by the colorful leaves.

Sorry for the late reply. We just had our mid-term and our schedule was a little bit overwhelming.=)

We do not provide country-specific GMAT scores publicly because of privacy. But we encourage anyone interested in this information to reach out to current students directly to ask specific questions. They are available and willing to provide their own experiences to prospective candidates.

For first-year students, we will soon updated their information online. According to my knowledge, since we recruited 16 Chinese students this year, background of them are more diversed, including marketing, finance, investment banking, sports management, etc.

Sorry for the late reply.

Our international student body who returned to class Fall 2014 interned at companies such as Amazon.com, Deloitte, Corning Inc., Citi, Emerson, Goldman Sachs and Johnson & Johnson just to name a few. And our most recent international class had a full-time employment rate of 92% within 3 months of graduation.

We have seen a few companies that conduct leadership development recruiting with our students and one in particular, Emerson, has recently recruited international students into such roles. These roles vary, but our students typically rotate through the various departments of a company gaining broad insight into how the company works with opportunities to determine fit, and for eventual placement in a position with growth potential at the company. A vast majority of companies who recruit for these positions will sponsor the H1-B Visa.
