Let the width of the square = x. Then the width of the walkway = x-5. Then the width of the bigger square defined by the the outer sides of the walkway is (x+2*(x-5)). Then the area of the walkway is simply the difference between the areas of the two squares: 132 = (3x-10)^2 - x^2 132 = 8x^2 -60x +100
