Upstairs is absolutely correct! Your profile suits IMD's normal MBA program. I met alumni who got into IMD at a slightly senior level, but you'll probably be fine. Don't trust the guy who said you're suitable for EMBA

Also, both INSEAD and IMD offer free initial background assessments coupled with short phone consultations. You don't need to spend more than 15 minutes. Just go onto your website and submit your CV. They'll get back within a week with feedback. If they think you're good, they'll encourage you to apply

As we build an IMD MBA
class, we look for diversity in terms of nationality, industry, gender and work
experience. Our selection process is based on an assessment and evaluation of
your individual strengths and weaknesses relative to those of the applicant pool
in the deadline for which you applied. The criteria taken into consideration
include career progression, business orientation, career goals, international
exposure, language abilities, academic results, and GMAT performance. This means
that while an individual application may be strong, our decision to select a
candidate for an interview or a place in the class also takes into consideration
how your profile and contribution compares to other applicants in the same
deadline or candidates already admitted to the class.

We have 5
application deadlines every year for our class starting in January: February 1,
April 1, June 1, August 1 and September 1.  While we encourage you to apply
early, we accept participants from every deadline.

this is not an acknowledgement of admission, nor an invitation for an interview.
To apply for the IMD MBA Program, you must go through the formal application
process, as outlined on our web site.
