请教一道prep里的语法题

答案是A，我选的B，当时是因为A里面it was said 后面没有加that没有选A，但是为什么可以省略that呢？

这个不是主要考点。。= =|| 之前的讨论贴里有提过这样的that可以省略的。

比较A和B，B最大的错误是that it could的it到底指代什么。是chestnut呢还是a squirrel呢，这个和省略不省略that相比，错误更严重。

SC不是选最对的，是选相对最好的。

A中的it是形式主语，主语是(that) a squirrel，谓语是could，故这里省略that无碍，不会产生歧义
B中的that it could罗嗦

刚才在网上搜这道题但是没有搜到满意的解释，多谢你啦。

我11月5号考试，感觉现在各科都很不稳定，最好的时候每科错1-2个，最差的时候能错一半。。。。
