When a country develops its technology; the traditional skills and ways of life die out.It is pointless to try and keep them alive.
As the society develops, people are substituted by the machine to increase the productivity. It （The new skills）indeed helps the world now to develop the economy fastly. However, I disagree with the point of view that it is useless to keep the old skills alive.
On one hand, the new way of skill helps the society in several ways. For one thing, the new skills improve the productivity of the factories. In the past, one cloth needs one worker to work for several days. However, in the present-day, as the technology for making clothes improves, machines which can produce thousands of clothes in a day are used in the factory. As a result, it not only saves the times but also saves the expense of the factory. For another, new technology stands for the intelligence of the human. Now there are still lots of problems we are facing, for example the original of the human being, questions about the outer space, the AIDS and so on. Only by the advancing in all aspects can we solve the problem.
On the other hand, developing the new skills doesn’t mean that we should give up the traditional way of living. First of all, the old way of living is precious resource for the entire human being. History is a science which is studied by lots of individuals now, and these traditional ways of living is something the scientists need as the reference. Secondly, the old way of living symbolizes the culture of one country which can be used to educate the next generation. For example, the way the Chinese farmers plant is a summary of several thousand of years and is now still popular among the 0.9 billion farmers in the country. The way the farmers plant should be put in the book or in the library, and it is a really good lesson for the students. Finally, even though the technology develops, some skill still cannot be replaced by the machine such as drawing and painting.
In conclusion, the new way of skills helps the society in lots of aspects such as the economy, medical, science and so on. However, we still need the traditional skills because it is one aspect of the science, it can be used to educate the students and some old skill cannot be substituted by the advanced technology.
