127. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Reading fiction (such as novels and short stories) is more enjoyable than watching movies. Use specific reasons and examples to explain your position.
When it comes to the issue whether reading a fiction is more enjoyable than watching movies, different people have different opinions. Some people prefer reading a fiction because movies tend to lose some detailed description of the emotion and thought of the characters. Other people think that watching a movie is a better choice since it will not cost them a lot of time and energy to understand the story. As to me, I would like to devote my support to watching a movie.
First of all, watching movies is not only an entertainment but also a kind of social activities. Compared with watching movies, reading a book is an individual activity and seldom does a person read books together with his friends. For example, my friends and I all love Harry Potter and the films were released, we often went to the cinema together. However, we have never read the book together when the book was published although we buy the new edition as soon as it launched.
Secondly, movie can provide you a vivid picture of the whole story and it is more exciting and stimulating than reading a fiction. When you read the book, you can only imagine the scenes the author described. For example, the movie "Lord of the Rings" brings me to the spectacular scenery of New Zealand along with it special effects. All the scenes in the movies are beyond my imagination and it is hard for the readers to get these from the fictions.
Admittedly, there is no denying that reading a fiction also has its advantages. For instance, you will not be interrupted by other people when reading alone. Also, the writing skills can be advanced by reading books and duplicating the author’s writing method.
In sum, it is a complicated issue about whether reading a fiction is more enjoyable than watching movies and the choice can only be treated in a subjective way rather than an objective way. In my opinion, watching a movie is more attractive since I enjoy communications with my friends about the movies that we see together and the significant scenery of created by advanced technology.
