As stated on our website, we have not posted minimum scores. We evaluate applications holistically. Not one factor (GMAT/GRE, Academic Record, etc.) solely carries the weight to determine admission.

We generally do not recommend applicants to retake the GMAT/GRE, but it is your decision as to how well your score reflects your abilities.

The admissions committee takes into consideration your highest test score. The Tuck application allows students to report up to two GMAT and/or GRE test scores. If you have scored better on one test in the verbal section and better on the other in the quantitative section, we will consider your highest quantitative and highest verbal scores.

The Admissions Committee does not weigh any criterion for admission, (test scores, grades, work experience, etc.) more than another. Each application is evaluated on a case by case basis within the context of the total applicant pool.
When reviewing multiple GMAT scores, we will consider the highest of the scores.  

The AWA is an important part of the GMAT, but we also look at the trends of scores if you have taken multiple tests.  We also use your essays to evaluate your writing skills.
Whether you take the test again is completely up to you.  The Johnson School
does not have a minimum AWA score requirement, but some other schools may have a minimum they expect candidates to earn to be competitive in their pools.

Thank you for your interest in Chicago Booth.  We do not have a cut-off score requirement for the GMAT, but we certainly do recommend that you strategize to make all components of your application as strong as possible. We will be comparing your application components to the rest of the applicant pool in the effort to create the strongest possible class.  The admissions committee will be examining your entire background to this effect.  As such, we are unable to give you a probability regarding admission- this all depends on the overall applicant pool.
We cannot advise you on whether or not you should apply, or if you should wait and strategize to take the GMAT exam again- this decision requires personal assessment on your part.  I can tell you that the 80^th percentile range of our current class is between 660-760, with an average of 714.    If you do not feel that your GMAT score is indicative of your true abilities, you may want to consider taking the exam again.  In instances where applicants retake their GMAT exam, we consider the highest total score. We don’t recommend taking the exam more than three times- at that point, scores will probably not improve dramatically, and it could also become rather expensive to continue retaking the exam.

Ross looks at the total GMAT score, but if you are a international student we do look at the AWA.  To be successful at the Ross School School of Business you would have to be familiar with the English language.

We admit applicants with a range of test scores. There is no minimum requirement. However, if you feel that you have not scored your personal best, or that the results are not representative of your ability, you may re-take the exam.The GMAT is important in the evaluation process, but it is not the only indicator of achievement. Other important aspects of the application that are assessed by the admissions committee include a candidate's academic performance, work experience, recommendations and essays.

No you do not need to retake the exam.  We will use your 4.5 AWA on your 650 test.
