答案是E,本人选B.
pollutant是不可数名次吧，可是为什么要加s呢？
麻烦哪位大虾帮忙解答一下，谢谢！

pollutant 可以是可数的把。pollutant ：something that pollutes, especially a waste material that contaminates air, soil, or water.

因为天然气主要由一种叫做methan的碳水化合物构成，使用天然气的交通工具比燃烧汽油和柴油的交通工具排放更少的特定污染物。
哦，答案是可以选出了。
可是疑问还有：
既然是可数，为什么要用less 而不是fewer?

Less表污染物量多少， fewer表污染物种类多少，此题要比较量的多少，所以用LESS. 不知理解的对不对。

刚查过字典，pollutant是变化名词（variable noun),可以加s,也可以不加，两者都是一样的。区别的时候根据逻辑判断是抽象名词的即为不可数~所以我觉得这道题跟less 没有关系

更况且，less of后面是一定要跟不可数名字或者名词的单数形式，字典可是这样说的。

较真的话，因为是一种简单的化合物构成的，所以说排放的种类少也未尝不可阿……

白勇的書中p.193解釋：

emit less of pollutants, less of（較少地）向前修飾動詞emit，而不是向後修飾名詞pollutants.

另外，我有個問題

為什麼does不用重複？

agree with carrielee. i member that "less of" means "smaller in degree", acting like an adverb. so it really doesnt mater whether the noun that followes is singular or plural.
