20.The lawyer for the defense charged that she suspected the police of having illegally taped her confidential conversations with her client and then used the information obtained to find evidence supporting their murder charges.

答案是D。我想这里用of using是为了和前面的of having illegally taped相区别吧。但是为什么use和tape不能用同样的时态呢？另外，我觉得evidence that would support太累赘了，为什么不能用evidence supporting？

If you don't use "of using" ,the"used"wil be seen not only as a parallelism of "taped",but as that of "charged",It bring some confuse to reader.

As for"evidence that would support",the lawyer suspected the police ....that means evidence support their murder charges should use subjective mood.

suspected the police of doing sth and then (the police) of doing sth.

怀疑警察录音和使用，tape和use是两个先后动作，所以前面那个用完成时，后面那个加上then表示

不知道这样解释对不对啊，否则我就会当作have taped and (have)used看了
