这题是做题时候题目没读明白做错了:

100. One way to judge the performance of a company is
to compare it with other companies. This technique,
commonly called “benchmarking,” permits the
manager of a company to discover better industrial
practices and can provide a justification for the
adoption of good practices.
Any of the following, if true, is a valid reason for
benchmarking the performance of a company against
companies with which it is not in competition rather
than against competitors EXCEPT:
(A) Comparisons with competitors are most likely to
focus on practices that the manager making the
comparisons already employs.
(B) Getting “inside” information about the unique
practices of competitors is particularly difficult.
(C) Since companies that compete with each other
are likely to have comparable levels of efficiency,
only benchmarking against noncompetitors is
likely to reveal practices that would aid in
beating competitors.
(D) Managers are generally more receptive to new
ideas that they find outside their own industry.
(E) Much of the success of good companies is due
to their adoption of practices that take
advantage of the special circumstances of their
products or markets.

大意就是先介绍了检验公司运作的方法，就是和其他的公司作比较，也就是题中说的“benchmarking”，它能使公司的管理人员从同行的身上学到很多管理的技巧及方法，同时还为那些采用了别的公司的good practices的公司提供了正当的理由。。

关键是选择什么样的公司进行比较，是competitors呢，还是noncompetitors呢？问题问的就是下列哪一项不是选择noncompetitors的原因。。。

ABCD四个选项都是说选择noncompetitors的原因，只有E说的是有的时候在某些特殊的工业领域是有着特殊的practices（文中的special circumstances ）的，也就是说在这种情况下要是选择与noncompetitors进行比较是不会得到想要的结果的，，因为他们不是属于同一个领域的。。。
