The best argument for the tenure system that protects professional employment in universities is that it allows veteran faculty to hire people smarter than they are and yet remain secure in the knowledge that unless they themselves are caught in an act of moral turpitude---a concept that in the present climate almost defies definition------the younger faculty can not turn around and fire them. This is not true in industry.

B)if no tenure system existed, veteran faculty would be reluctant to hire new faculty who might threaten the veteran faculty's own jobs.

这个是新东方逻辑辅导书里的一个典型例题，不过自由困惑的是，书中说，B是正确答案，因为B是一个无因就无果（既A可行或者A有意义）的类型。我记得新东方网络课堂曾经说过，无因就无果同“A可行或者A有意义”是不同的概念啊！！！不同的概念，不同的解题思路，谢谢大家帮助

in the knowledge that 这个是个固定词组吗？另外unless they themselves are caught in an act of moral turpitude---a concept that in the present climate almost defies definition------the younger faculty can not turn around and fire them. 这个句子含义部分，自由看的一头雾水，和整个题干，前面的句子什么逻辑关系啊？感觉不清晰，谢谢大家帮笨笨自由
