请问为什么是B而不是C呢?

1. C缺少代词IT，什么避免被偷不清楚；
2. 将to avoid代入句子，其从句的结构是a recently discovered chalice, …, was probably buried to avoid being stolen by invaders
其中avoid的主语逻辑主语是chalice，意思荒谬。

Let's compare 2 sentences to see which one is better:
1.a chalice was probably buried to keep from being stolen by invaders. (chalice to keep itself)
2.a chalice was probably buried to keep it from being stolen by invaders. (someone to keep it)
If you would like to show "a chalice to keep" in 2, you should use "itself" rather than "it".

我觉得这里考的是逻辑主语的问题，例如turtle chen在上面所说，在第一句中，keep的逻辑主语依然是某某人，那么from being就变成了“防止这个人被偷”，逻辑意思自然不正确

我觉得was的主语不可能是人,要是人的话意思不通啊,不能说人被埋葬了是为了防止某物被偷吧..我觉得这个句子是说"考古学家发现了据今八个世纪的被入侵者埋藏起来以防被偷的酒杯".所以我觉得主语不是人
