我认为是E，因为他们认为统计的目的不是人数，若从人数而言，没有统计的人数太多自然不准；但是若从经济状况看，穷的富的都没有记，就拉平了，“the basic statistical portrait of the nation painted by the census
is accurate”。其实C和D差不多。

请指教！要不我就只能够死记住是C了！多些！

C选项，如果没被统计的穷人和富人百分比相近的话，两相抵消，总体的统计结果不会与现实情况差很多，符合这一句However, the basic statistical portrait of the nation painted by the census is accurate，只有基于选项C，上面这句话才成立~
