AA-B8,本月作文的思路

AA-B8 . The following appeared in a presentation by the chief production manager of a machine parts manufacturing company at a management meeting:

“Our factory in Cookville is our most advanced and efficient. It is capable of producing ten drill bits for each dollar of production costs, whereas none of our other factories can produce more than seven drill bits per dollar of production costs. Therefore, we can reduce our overall drill bit production costs by devoting the Cookville factory entirely to drill bit production. Since reducing the production costs of individual machine parts is the only way to achieve our larger goal of reducing our overall production costs, dedicating the Cookville factory entirely to drill bit production and shifting all other machine part production to our other factories will help us to attain that larger goal.”

Discuss how well reasoned . . .etc.

我也是老人家,可能更老点儿.互相支持吧!浅见如下:

1.错误因果:C地的DB生产成本最低和效率最高 发生在 通过集中公司全部DB生产于C地而减低DB的生产总成本.前者导致后者.然而,尽管C地的DB生产成本最低和效率最高 并不能必然导致通过集中公司全部DB生产于C地而减低DB的生产总成本. 因为1.也许C地的生产成本最低和效率最高的DB 却质量不过关并造成售价很低或者劳动力不足且远离原料产地;2是也许DB(钻头)具易消耗\低价和包装等物流成本高的产品特性,本身就适合"地产地销和适度分散"生产布局策略.因此简单粗暴地过度集中生产于C地反而容易出现客服水平下降和市场预测难度提高及库存量增加等问题.

2.错误类比:本篇所依赖的假设是降低单个机器的生产成本(A) 与 降低总生产成本(B) 在各方面是一样的.这假设是有问题的.因为二者尽管有很多相似之处,但却有很大不同.比如,C地目前生产BD成本最低和效率最高,很可能是该公司在C地现有的原料\设备\技术\劳力\厂房\动力六大生产成本要素的最优化组合,若不加分析地把公司分散在外的DB制造能力全部集中在C地,势必出现前6大成本要素的严重失衡,也就可能达不到总生产成本降低的目的,甚至效果相反.因此,有A推出B是非常困难的.

3.错误假设:The author rests on the assumption that reducing the production costs of individual machine parts is the only way to achieve our larger goal of reducing our overall production costs.However, no evidence is stated in the argument to support this argument. In fact, this is not necessarily the case, because there are not more ways to achieve our larger goal of reducing overall production costs but the only way that reducing the production costs of individual machine parts. For example, although this factory in Cookville is our most advanced and efficient, perhaps Cookville is far away from raw materials market and is lack of suitable and enough labor force to meet the demand of  devoting the Cookville factory entirely to drill bit production.Hence, this argument is unwarranted without ruling out such possibility.

another argument, derived from GMAC pool of questions, could be whether C has reached its maximized manufacturing capacity. If C did reached its capacity, it would not be wise to move all the DB manufacturing to C.

Besides, Since reducing the production costs of individual machine parts is the only way to achieve our larger goal of reducing our overall production costs. Other than the situation that arthor fails to proffer convincing lines of reasoning why it is so, the author must evaluate the cost of DB accounts for the majority cost of production costs of individual machine parts. If, for example, the raw material contributes more than 50 percent of the production costs, C must analyze, work out the plan, and carry out the action to minizie the cost of raw material, the most contributing cost of production costs.

谢谢,我发现BUSINESS的还是相对好写点,不管什么TOPIC都可以把原材料,劳工成本,市场竞争,顾客偏好当作理由来用,呵呵
