首先看一下这里的主语是什么？是the  discovery，是单数，谓语是什么，是be，肯定用is 这样你可以排除了C 和D

第二，你看一下，thediscorvery后面是that说明是定语从句，因该用句子时态，所以E错误

我们再继续看A和B

A和B的区别就是谓语后面的表语（宾语修饰开始不一样，都是studies  of 这表示是xx的研究，再往后看有and说明应该链接相同部分的成分。那么后面肯定也是xx的学习，因为studies相同，所以省略了这个 and （studies)of 

句子结构是the discovery is responsible for studies of xx xx and (studies )of xxxx.

如果楼主再不明白，我也是无能为力了。。
