我刚得知有一个难友在ETS立案调查后收到了调查结果,内容如下:
DearXXX:
We have received your email regarding the iBT TOEFL exam you had taken on September 14, 2007. There are numerous versions of the TOEFL exam with many levels of difficulty. However, due to the nature of your inquiry, two ETS specialists carefully reviewed the Listening section of your exam. There were no technical issues with your exam. The scoring was reevaluated and the score for the Listening section is correct. If you have any further questions, please contact us. TOEFL Services TRACKING NUMBER: A00006171361-00023937170
这位难友的听力有十几分,所以我怀疑是不是他真的运气背,该做对的都不小心错了。而且ETS就给一个简单调查结果,难以服众,可能还是因为发邮件complain要求他们调查的人太少,没有引起他们重视。
我又发了个邮件过去,内容主要是:如果他们打算发一个与那位难友收到的回信类似的邮件给我,让为我的分数正常的话,请他们务必给出下列信息:我错了多少个题,哪些题答错了,我是否有哪些题没答,如果有的话有多少个,是哪些?
不给出这些信息我有理由怀疑ETS根本没有批改客观部分就胡乱给了个分数,而且接到投诉后又不调查却谎称经过调查发现你的分数正常,就是这么一点。
最后再威胁一下,如果不给出这些 specific details 就上法院起诉他们。(这不是危言耸听,确实有很多难友联合请了一个律师准备起诉ETS)。

以下为11月25日 0:45更新:这几天,很多难友都发了邮件给ETS,但是大部分都没能在发第一封邮件后就获得立案(得到CASE ID,我认为是没有开门见山明确表明发邮件是来投诉(complain)的,导致ETS误解了我们的意思,回的信要么说只能口语和写作才能复议,要么说要我们找NEEA等等答非所问的东西。这是因为ETS没有把这些邮件当成complain来对待,当然也就不会立案调查了。后来我们只好又发邮件去说我们是来投诉的,不是来咨询的,别让我们再找NEEA,因为NEEA要我们来找你们,别把责任推来推去。这样才立了案,但一来一回浪费了不少时间和精力。与此同时已经有难友在立案调查后收到了关于调查结果的回信,ETS说他们派了两个专家重新对他的听力部分进行了评分,发现原来的成绩是正常的,没有错误。为了防止ETS也这样搪塞我们,是不是可以在投诉信上要求他们提供评分的细节,即到底错了多少题,题号分别是什么等。
为了方便大家,我写了个投诉信样板,写得不好,仅供大家参考。希望大家能吸取前人的教训,把投诉信写好,免得再浪费更多的时间和精力。
Dear sir or madam:
In this mail, I want to complain for what have happened to me and many other test taters from mainland China . I have made call to NEEA, but they said we must contact you directly.
As far as I know, there are many test takers who got an unbelievable low listening score though they think they did very well in the listening section . So we think there is something wrong with the test
system.
Please check my score for the listening part to find out the problem of the score system.
Please make sure that you have noticed that what I want you to check is the listening section, not the speaking and writing sections.
Moreover one of my friends who had complained for the same problem got a responce from you after he got a CASE ID .
Below is the reply to him from ETS:

If you will give a same response to me, I don't think it's enough and convinced. So, please give me specific details of the scoring for the listening section: how many questions that I gave wrong answers to, and please give me the sequence numbers of the questions ; Did I leave some questions and did not give answers to them, if any, please give the sequence numbers of these questions to me ( I am sure that I have answered all the questions).
I think, as a examinee, I have the right to know the details of this problem. If you said that the scoring was reevaluated and the score for the Listening section is correct without giving me the details I want, I will consider indicting ETS with many test takers who face the same situation and have the same claim as me in the court if we can't get content results
