Wharton professor的回信

本人一本科，沒什麽突出的研究經歷可講。所以我只好發email到我感興趣的一牛教授，讓他看看我的resume，然後說希望他可以consider我的application.

發信后一個小時，此教授回信：

"I assume you have applied to the Ph.d program for next year. If so, you will  have careful consideration"

我被他徹底弄糊塗了，我明明是apply for this year.  而且next year的application還沒開始呢。他怎麽會assume我apply明年的admission呢？！ 

不過此教授還挺nice的，雖然回信看上去有點客套，不過肯回信在這年頭也算是人品可佳了。

I don't think it's a good approach to attach your resume or PS in your first email to any professor.  Most professors would not like to read these emails as/if you didn't seek their permission.  The most important thing to contact professors is to prompt their interests in you first with a short, concise email.  After you get their interests, you can ask for their permission to send your resume and PS.

The professor who replied to your email is indeed nice.

Thanks for the advice.  This would be the first and the only contact I would send to a professor at B-school.  Afterall, I don't have any significant research experience to talk about.  All I can do is to express my interest and determination.

Anyhow, good luck with everyone who applies to PhD in Business this year, eps. those who are still in their senior year at college.  I am expecting a higher rejection rate for undergrad than the grad students.
