“Motorcycle X has been manufactured in the United States for over 70 years. Although one foreign company has copied the motorcycle and is selling it for less, the company has failed to attract motorcycle X customers — some say because its product lacks the exceptionally loud noise made by motorcycle X. But there must be some other explanation. After all, foreign cars tend to be quieter than similar American-made cars, but they sell at least as well. Also, television advertisements for motorcycle X highlight its durability and sleek lines, not its noisiness, and the ads typically have voice-overs or rock music rather than engine-roar on the sound track.”

the argument is that  "the author thinks that loud noise is not the reason leading a slump of sale", so basically, u need to challenge the evidence what the author uses to support this argument. 

1. motorcyle is different from cars, no comparison, ............(e.g. customer, purpose,......)

2. "Also, television advertisements for motorcycle X highlight its durability and sleek lines, not its noisiness, and the ads typically have voice-overs or rock music rather than engine-roar on the sound track.”

ads and customer preference, not necessarily cause-and-effect relationship. Namely, customer purchasing behavior might or might not be attributed to the contents of ads.

我觉得作文应该不会考到这个题

1 作者忽略了其它使得这个外国公司不吸引X顾客的原因

2.其它卖的好的外国车吸引的顾客群和X的顾客不一样

3.没有说明广告的内容决定了顾客购买X车的偏好,即没有提供足够的证据说明广告强调/不强调什么和顾客购买有关

1, the analogy between the two industries of car and motocycle is not substantiated. The fact that foreign cars sell as well as American models out of the reason "exceptional noise" doesn't necessarily lead to the conclusion that motocylce buyers care little about noise.
2, the analysis of product description and appealings appeared on advertisements is also insufficient to bolster the conclusion, since what take appreance on advertisement may only reflect what the advertiser percieves important for the market. Besides, it is much possible that the motocycle market is so unique that it relies on some "hidden rules" for players to succeed, for example, producing models with big noise although normally it will be percieved the reverse side of "good quality" which is the main creteria for a function market.
