Researchers have found that when very overweight people, who tend to have relatively low metabolic rates, lose weight primarily through dieting, their metabolisms generally remain unchanged. They will thus burn significantly fewer calories at the new weight than do people whose weight is normally at that level. Such newly thin persons will, therefore, ultimately regain weight until their body size again matches their metabolic rate.

The conclusion of the argument above depends on which of the following assumptions?

虽然感觉A对，但是细想一下挺不严谨的，来吐槽一下GMAC

说一个人越吃越多，按照题的逻辑就是这个人的新陈代谢越来越少。
虽然题说Such newly thin persons will, therefore, ultimately regain weight until their body size again matches their metabolic rate.
我感觉照这个吃法，这个人的增重根本停不下来呀。何来until呀。

而且虽然A给了这种减肥的人又增肥的原因，但没有太联系到新陈代谢。因为没有更好答案了，最后只好选A。。。

A 选项说的是：
几乎没有一个通过节食减肥的胖子们所消耗的卡路里，比那些个拥有同样体重的正常人消耗的卡路里少（我做了更正）
取非后就是：
大多数通过节食减肥的胖子们所消耗的卡路里，比那些个在拥有同样体重的正常人消耗的卡路里少（我做了更正）

这样取非后的选项A就不能使结论成立了
还有一点我这里加出来： consume calories 是吃的人量少我上面翻的不好让人不容易理解，请见谅

请问一下，你碰到假设题，会取非每个选项然后比较吗？

回答：consume calory的中文就是消费的热量，即吃的量呀。（请看我下面的解释。）

然后看了你对A的翻译后，发现正好与我的翻译相反。

Emma的翻译：几乎没有一个通过节食减肥的胖子们所消耗的卡路里，比那些个拥有同样体重的正常人消耗的卡路里多（所以正常人消耗卡路里多,即正常人吃的多）
我的翻译；几乎没有减肥成功的人会比体重稳定的人消费更少的热量。（所以减肥成功的人消费的卡路里多。即减肥成功的人吃的多）

3）
另一个问题，这道题的结论是说Such newly thin persons will, therefore, ultimately regain weight until their body size again matches their metabolic rate.
”因此，这些新瘦下来的人会反弹增重，直到他们的体重与新陈代谢量相等（才能停下）。“
我的疑问是：因为文章说越胖的人新陈代谢量越低，所以我觉得一个人吃多变胖-->新陈代谢量少，变成一个循环应该就停不下来了。永远不会有body size matches their metabolic rate的一天。
因此质疑了一下题目的严密性。觉得应该删掉until后面的部分。不知道是不是我哪里理解错了。GMAC一般不会错呀

Lisi, firstly sorry for my typo. 昨天回帖子的时候已经法国凌晨蛮晚了，我更正一下我这里写错的地方，请你原谅我的不严谨，我在下面和上面的答复里都更正了。

我这次很认真的检查了一遍确定没有typo 了

题干说：
胖子新陈代谢低，燃烧热量少，减重后代谢率不变所以燃烧热量比正常人少。

结论：
减肥后的人为了compensate 他们的低代谢，体重会反弹

根据题干给出的信息，也就是说，胖子们一旦瘦下来后，他们需要吃的更少的热量来match 他们的低代谢。根据题干而正常人可以吃的比这定量多也不会胖。到这里大家都还同意吧。

选项A说了：
很少有人能够每天都只吃这么少的热量的 --- 支持结论所以体重会回升

取非就是：
大多数减肥后的胖子都只吃这么少的热量。所以结论说他们体重会反弹是不成立的

希望我这次说清楚了。另外取非或者是fill in gap, 看你自己喜好了。有些时候fill in gap 简单，有时候取非更简单，这个assumption 到底是supportive 还是defender 是有关系的。

是的，看得非常明白。一回家就码了这么多字给我，非常感谢。
这个取非的练习我还得多做做。
