I choose d, and i give me my reason here:"Consequently" is the key word here. the two part of argument is not parallel. "it is thus increasingly unnecessary for practicing engineers to have a thorough understanding of fundamental mathematical principles " is a conclusion of the former part and served as evidence for the latter part-----only the last sentense is the conclusion of the whole argument....
