How about the placement for Mainland Chinese students for 2003?  I heard that it was tough to apply for H-1b as one of my friends who graduated from a Top 50 in California could not find a company to sponsor him.

I think those stats maybe misleading.  If you are in Terry now, could you tell me the average tuition is for Chinese students and which company did they finally go?  Is career office helpful or the majority of the students find the jobs by themselves?  Thanks.

from my understading, current placement data means a little to predict the future individual career hunting.  The job market in north america is lifting its head this year and the trend will be more obvious the next year.  Make your own analysis and judgement as every individual is speical when talking about ultimate landing in the states.

The most concerned questions:

1. What do the institutional scholarships and the assistantships mean?

2. Among the Chinese students who went into terry school last year, what percent of them received some kinds of

financial aids  can cover the tuition fee?

assistantship covers full tuition and pays you a certain amount of stipend every month, kind like the ph.d program. but the stipend is not that much. you have to work with faculty to receive the assistantship. scholoarship is a generous cash giving away. you don't have any duty under the scholarship. The percentage of Chinese students receiving the assistantship and scholarship is not an absolute reference for current applicants as the financial aids are rewarded only to those excellent and this criterion is a variable decided by the average excellence of all international applicants.

The encouranging news is that from my knowledge no Chinese students paid tuition in the last few years in this program

good luck to those who applied this year.
