the strategy proposed by directors on hybrid electric cars
The board of directors says that: 1. pretty high gas price leads to decreased sales of SUV and trucks (using gas therefore affected by gas prices)
2. they need to shift production from SUV and truck to hybrid electric cars
3. this shift will help maintain the sales of their company because the hybrid electric cars have great potential in automobile market (in the future) because its engine does not require gas.
several flaws I spoted:
1. correlation is misinterpreted as causality.
2. regard customers purchase on automobile as an either-or choice WITH their company's offerings. (No purchase on product A does not mean purchase on product B)
3. inaccurate prediction on future's sales with the shifting strategy/groundless assumption
